The first meeting with the partner journal serves to clarify expectations between the educators and the journal. This page will provide an overview of key topics to add to the meeting agenda.

Expectations for the course

Inform the journal of the approximate course schedule

We request manuscripts, students have 1 week to provide comments in the manuscripts, then there is the workshop and then the manuscripts will be submitted to the journal by...

Establish the number of manuscripts that the journal can provide.

Establish how manuscripts can be assigned

Depending on the EM expertise? Random?

Understand specific formatting and disclosure requirements

Confidentiality agreement

Possibility for the course participants to attend an editoral meeting

Overview of how the educators will request the manuscripts and general process of the workshops

Provisional schedule for the course

Peerspectives should provide a schedule for the course including number of manuscripts, editor mentors, participants, and general timeline of when manuscripts will be requested, reviews will be written, and reviews will be submitted. An example of this is seen below:
